# Hua Lu (化祿) (化祿) > Hua Lu (化祿) marks where supply arrives easily in your chart. Set by your birth year stem, it lands on one star and one palace. See which, free. Canonical page: https://tinkei.ai/en/transformations/hualu Hua Lu (化祿) is the first of the four transformations. It attaches to one specific star in your chart, decided entirely by the heavenly stem of your birth year, and marks the area of life where things arrive with less friction than they should. Not luck exactly: supply. ## What Hua Lu actually does Hua Lu does not make a star good. It opens it. Wherever it lands, resources, opportunities and goodwill turn up through that channel more readily than through any other part of the chart, often without the person noticing they are being helped. Money finds them through that palace, or people do, or work does. The classical texts pair it with 財 and 緣: material supply and the connections that carry it. Read practically, it tells you which door to keep walking through. Someone with Hua Lu in the Travel Palace gets their openings by leaving home; someone with it in the Friends Palace gets them through other people, and will struggle to generate the same result sitting alone with a plan. The most common mistake is to spend a life pushing on the palace that resists while ignoring the one that opens. ## Which star carries it in your chart This is fixed, not interpretive. The heavenly stem of your birth year decides it: 甲 gives Hua Lu to Lian Zhen (廉貞), 乙 to Tian Ji (天機), 丙 to Tian Tong (天同), 丁 to Tai Yin (太陰), 戊 to Tan Lang (貪狼), 己 to Wu Qu (武曲), 庚 to Tai Yang (太陽), 辛 to Ju Men (巨門), 壬 to Tian Liang (天梁), 癸 to Po Jun (破軍). Ten stems, ten stars, no exceptions and no judgement involved. What varies between charts is which palace that star happens to sit in, and that is what makes the same Hua Lu mean opportunity through work for one person and through family for another. ## Reading it honestly Hua Lu is the easiest of the four to over-read. An open channel is not a guarantee of wealth, and plenty of charts with a strong Hua Lu never turn the supply into anything, because supply still has to be picked up. It is also worth knowing that Hua Lu in the Wealth Palace and Hua Lu in the Fortune Palace read very differently: the first is money moving, the second is contentment, and mistaking one for the other disappoints people. Traditional practice reads Hua Lu against Hua Ji before drawing any conclusion, since a chart where both land in the same palace describes something that gives and takes through the same door. ## FAQ ### Does Hua Lu mean I will be rich? No. It marks the channel through which resources reach you most easily, not the amount. A chart with Hua Lu in the Career Palace says opportunity comes through work rather than through inheritance or partners; whether that becomes wealth depends on the rest of the chart, the decade you are in, and what you actually do with the opening. ### How do I find out which star carries my Hua Lu? It is decided by your birth year's heavenly stem, so it takes a computed chart rather than a lookup of your zodiac animal. Casting your chart shows the 祿 glyph attached to the star that carries it, and the palace it sits in, which is the part that actually changes the reading. ### Can Hua Lu be a bad thing? It can be a complication. Classical practice is wary of Hua Lu landing on a star that is already excessive, or in a palace where more supply means more entanglement - the Marriage Palace being the usual example. Openness is neutral; what comes through the door is the question. --- Source: Tinkei (天機) - free Zi Wei Dou Shu calculator. The chart engine is deterministic and documented; the AI never places stars.
