What the Children Palace governs

This palace answers questions about the parent-child bond: whether it runs warm or formal, where the friction sits, what your children tend to be like as people, and how you carry the parent role. Classical practice extends it to students and juniors you mentor, to creative output you parent into existence, and, in traditional technique, to intimacy and peach-blossom matters, since the palace concerns what the bedroom produces. It does not decide whether you can conceive, which is a medical question, and old rules for counting children are unreliable in an era of contraception and choice. How the Children Palace is read

Stars here describe both the children's disposition and the flavour of the bond. When the Children Palace is empty (借對宮)

An empty Children Palace borrows from the Property Palace (田宅宮) opposite. The classical sense is that the parent-child bond takes its character from the household itself: family atmosphere, living arrangements, and property matters shape how close you are, and the relationship often improves or strains when the living situation changes. Borrowed stars read at reduced strength, so the parenting pattern is flexible rather than strongly typed. An empty palace here is often misread as childlessness. Classically it says nothing so specific; it means the bond is moulded by environment, and for some people it points the nurturing instinct toward students or works instead.

Common misreadings

First and most painful: reading this palace as a fertility verdict. It is not, was never framed that way, and no chart placement overrides medicine. Second, counting sons and daughters from star tables; the old manuals did it, modern practitioners overwhelmingly do not, because family size is now chosen. Third, treating sha stars as bad children, when the classical sense is spirited, independent children who resist moulding, often the very trait parents later admire. Fourth, forgetting the palace also reads your own conduct as a parent; a strained palace frequently describes the parent's pattern, not a defect in the child.
