Tian Fu (Treasury Star)
Tian Fu (天府) is the treasury star of Zi Wei Dou Shu, standing for stability and stewardship: managing resources with a steady hand. It leads the Southern Dipper (南斗) group, making it the second ruler-class star after Zi Wei (紫微). Where Zi Wei commands, Tian Fu conserves, stores, and keeps things safe.
Core nature
Tian Fu is yang earth, the earth of storehouses and foundations. Keywords are reliability, prudence, capability, generosity from surplus, and a talent for making systems and households run. The classics call it the treasury (財庫) and the star of clothing and salary (衣祿之神), meaning material sufficiency. Tian Fu people are natural custodians: calm in a crisis, good with money, trusted with other people's affairs. The shadow side is conservatism. A star built to preserve can resist necessary change, defend comfortable positions too long, and mistake caution for wisdom. The texts read such lives as smoother than most, with fewer dramatic swings, and note leadership of the consolidating kind: expanding carefully from a secure base rather than gambling. The classical caution is the empty vault (空庫): a Tian Fu without wealth stars such as Lu Cun (祿存) or Hua Lu (化祿) nearby is a treasurer with little to guard, keeping the cautious temperament without the abundance, so actively filling the vault becomes the life's work.
Bright vs dim (廟旺 vs 落陷)
Like Zi Wei, Tian Fu never truly falls (落陷) in the traditional brightness tables; it stays at least average everywhere, which is why the classics treat it as a stabiliser wherever it lands. Practical judgement therefore rests on company rather than brightness. A supported Tian Fu, with Lu stars filling the vault and without heavy sha stars (煞星), reads as lifelong material steadiness. An afflicted one, particularly with Di Kong (地空) or Di Jie (地劫), is the classic leaky treasury: resources come but do not stay. Some schools also read an isolated, unfilled Tian Fu as outwardly composed but privately anxious about security, a keeper with nothing banked.

Tian Fu always sits opposite or beside the action stars, balancing them. With Zi Wei (紫微) in Yin or Shen, emperor and treasurer share one palace, a famously stable and honoured structure. With Wu Qu (武曲) in Zi or Wu, earning power meets keeping power, one of the strongest classical wealth signatures. With Lian Zhen (廉貞) in Chen or Xu, intensity is grounded into administrative capability.
