Fire 6 bureau (火六局)
The Fire 6 bureau (火六局) is one of five five-element bureaus and the latest to start. Taken from the nayin of your Life Palace, it decides where Zi Wei sits and opens your ten-year luck cycles at age 6, so your decades run 6, 16, 26, 36 and onward.
What the bureau actually decides
The bureau number and your lunar birth day together fix Zi Wei's seat, and the remaining major stars are placed relative to it. It also sets the age at which each decade begins - 6 for Fire 6, the latest of the five. Everything in a reading that refers to the current chapter, when it ends, and which palace governs it, follows from this number, which is why it is computed before anything else.
What Fire 6 does not mean
Fire here is not temperament. The bureau comes from the nayin of the Life Palace's stem and branch and functions as a placement and timing key; it says nothing about whether a person is quick-tempered, passionate or energetic. Those readings come from the stars, and in particular from malefics such as Huo Xing (火星) sitting in the Life Palace, which is a completely separate thing that shares part of its name and causes regular confusion.
Reading the late start
Because Fire 6 opens latest, its chapters run behind those of every other bureau. At 25 a Fire 6 chart is still finishing the decade that began at 16, while a Water 2 chart of the same age has been in a new one for three years. In practice this means Fire 6 charts often feel out of step with generic age-based astrology, and it is the most common reason someone reads a decade description that does not match their life at all.

Does Fire 6 mean I have a fiery temperament?
No, and this is the most confused of the five. The bureau is a placement and timing device taken from the Life Palace nayin. A fiery temperament in a chart is read from the stars, most often Huo Xing (火星) or Ling Xing (鈴星) in the Life Palace, which has nothing to do with the bureau.
Is starting at age 6 a disadvantage?
No. The bureaus are not ranked and a later start is not a slower life. It only means the decade boundaries fall at different ages, so your chapters are offset from someone on another bureau rather than shorter or weaker.
